About UpskillsAfrica

A foundation for people who learn by building.

UpskillsAfrica Foundation helps learners, educators, and institutions in Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya turn technology learning into useful projects: AI automations, software workflows, school tools, and physical product prototypes.

Simple idea

Skills become powerful when learners use them to build something real.

Why we exist

Learning should lead to useful work.

Many technology programs stop at theory, certificates, or tool demonstrations. UpskillsAfrica focuses on the next step: helping people design, document, test, and share practical work that can serve a classroom, a small organization, a community, or a personal portfolio.

Our work sits between education and production. We support course pathways, project practice, open documentation, mentorship, and tool-building so learners do not only understand new technologies — they can use them responsibly.

Operating model

How we turn learning into useful work.

01

Learn

Start with practical course pathways, clear concepts, and project examples.

02

Build

Use Gihanga and guided workflows to turn lessons into working software or automation.

03

Prototype

Connect digital skills to school tools, physical product concepts, and implementation plans.

04

Evidence

Document completed work, certificates, feedback, and verified outcomes before making claims.

What we work on

A practical ecosystem, not a single page or a single course.

UpskillsAfrica connects foundation programs, the course platform, Gihanga, and product-building work so learners can move between learning, practice, and implementation.

AI automation learning

Project-based learning for workflows, agents, productivity systems, and practical AI literacy.

Courses LMS

Courses, classroom access, progress tracking, premium or sponsored pathways, and certificates.

Gihanga builder space

A practical workspace for learners to create, test, document, and improve projects.

Product-building programs

Support for schools and learners exploring useful physical and digital product concepts.

Build first

Learning should produce real projects learners can use in classrooms, organizations, communities, and portfolios.

Open where possible

We prefer open-source tools, transparent documentation, and affordable deployment models that institutions can maintain.

Evidence before claims

We communicate program goals and verified outcomes clearly, using approved reports and real project evidence.
